This bridal inspiration shoot from Ali and Batoul Photography took shape completely in the moment, stemming from only two pre-chosen elements: the location and the attire. Everything was styled on location, including only decor and wild blooms available on hand!
A botanical rhapsody bridal inspiration shoot in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Our concept took shape while walking through the perennial fields at our shoot location, picking flowers on a whim, pairing natural blooming vines, exposed greenery, post-bloom flowers – while designing onsite. We focused on combining organic, earthy and raw materials with ethereal highlights.
The Flowers & Cake
Our stage, scenery of tranquil gardens facing a beautiful European-style stoned wall, was on the grounds of a quaint garden centre. Our table was found in the potting shed and our floral clematis vines from their greenhouses. Paired with our fading pink Japanese Anemone's, we also chose to combine dried miscellaneous seed pods, post-flower Chrysanthemums and burgundy foliage.
To carry our organic theme, natural stone slabs were hand-picked from the stone yard to accent our place-settings and serve as a cake platter. Our farmers' confectionary was chosen for it's effortless and minimalistic beauty.
The fashion chosen provided stark traditional contrast to our environment making the wedding dress a statement piece. The intricately beaded sweetheart bodice with multi-layered organza added volume to provide an air of the sight unseen presence of wind. A deep smokey eye created a romantic look with tussles of loose hair flowing elegantly every time the wind blew.
Our tablescape included sheer white tulle across the centre of the potting table and draped down one side of the setting into the earth creating an appropriate base upon which the organic floral centrepiece was placed. Tall, dripping tapered candles displayed in distressed gold candleholders were interspersed amidst the large floral arrangement to bring together the stone walls of the background into the natural elements of the tablescape. Paired with our crystal etched glasses and stone-fired clay dinnerware placed upon foraged natural stone slab added to the glamorous yet raw touches.
This shoot was truly a labour of love, liberated and free from overly curated details.
