Suzette and Matt's autumn Florida destination wedding was a cheerful yellow celebration of love! They met while in grad school in Washington D.C., and Matt eventually proposed to her in the courtyard of their school because he wanted to return to the place that brought them together. He told Suzette they were going out for a special dinner, so they both dressed up and got picked up by a black sedan. He got down on one knee in the center of the courtyard, and she said yes! Their wedding day was a typical September day in Florida – warm with a sea breeze. Their ceremony on the beach was right before sunset, and their reception was at a rented beach house with a pool! Kate's Captures Photography captured their celebration.
A cheerful yellow Florida destination wedding in the Panhandle
The sunset was probably the most gorgeous sunset I have ever seen! I can't describe how happy I am that we were blessed with such great weather! [Our wedding colors were] yellow, white, pink – I wanted to mimic colors of the sunset. Our wedding was at the beach so the theme kinda took care of itself. I also wanted there to be a lot of twinkle lights – little lights just give everything a magical appearance. Our wedding flowers were plumeria, and they were flown in the previous day from Hawaii. My amazingly talented sister-in-law put together the bouquets. My bouquet was mostly yellow plumeria interspersed with white calla lilies, and the bridesmaids had a smaller version. The men had calla lilies as their boutonnieres.
Our wedding cake was a three layer buttercream cake covered in little sanitized shells. It had a slight yellow tint to it. My aunt put together these little potpourri fans covered in lace that had teeny tiny seashells and starfish glued onto them. She also made our card holder, which was in a birdcage style covered in plumeria and seashells. My sister-in-law did all the centerpieces. We had plumeria on each table surrounded by wreaths interlaced with tiny twinkle lights.
I know a lot of brides must say this, but I honestly can not pick a single thing as a favorite! I think the sunset we had was spectacular, and it really just made everything feel magical. I also had a fantastic set of vendors – from our photographer to makeup! I couldn't have asked for better! I think our venue made the wedding unique. We wanted the wedding to be a relaxing experience for everyone, so we decided to hold the wedding reception at a beach house with a beautiful pool area and gazebo in the back. – Suzette
