Jordan and Tyler were childhood friends, growing up together in Santa Barbara. After several years of living in different states, they met up again when Jordan moved back home. An unexpected romance quickly blossomed, and when Tyler proposed on Butterfly Beach at sunset, Jordan excitedly shouted “Yes!” They decided to tie the knot in a non-traditional, afternoon tea wedding designed by Tyler Speier Events at the Historic Goleta Stow House, where they both had many childhood memories. The couple wanted a comfortable and meaningful celebration in a palette of all white, accented by lots of lace and organic textures. The bridesmaids wore mix and match white lace dresses with denim shoes, and the groom and groomsmen wore denim, as well. After the festivities, Jordan changed into her shorter lace and chiffon reception dress, and the couple snuck away for some lovely portraits on the beach where Tyler proposed with Jessica Fairchild Photography.
A comfortable and rustic white wedding in Santa Barbara, CA
Jordan wanted an all white wedding with natural colors, lots of lace and organic textures. She wore two bridal gowns on the day of her wedding, both custom made with beautiful lace detail; the first was an antique-inspired all-lace dress, worn with a cathedral veil, designed by the bride and created by a boutique seamstress. She also wore a boho headpiece, created by a boutique jewelry maker, with earrings to match. She chose to wear burlap TOMS to be comfortable during her wedding festivities. The bridesmaids wore white lace dresses from BHLDN, Anthropologie and other local shops, while the groom and groomsmen went for a more comfortable route, wearing denim and vests. The mother of the bride created all of the wedding party flowers.
In the invitation, guests were asked to “dress comfortably” and “wear white.” As guests arrived, they were greeted with a glass of raspberry-infused Prosecco. Deciding to take an alternative approach to the traditional wedding ceremony, Jordan and Tyler chose to have the ceremony on the steps of the Historic Stowe House, to the accompaniment of live violin music and acoustic guitar played by the bride's brothers. Sparkling wine was served as guests mingled on the lawn around cocktail tables, instead of sitting in traditional lines of chairs. Customized chalkboard signs surrounded the ceremony space with the bride and groom’s favorite quotes to create a meaningful, sacred ceremony space.
After the beautiful ceremony on the steps, guests were escorted to the lawn for more live music, appetizers, wine, cheese, and lots of merriment! In lieu of traditional wedding cake, the bride and groom opted to serve fresh strawberries and sweet “Pascha” cheese, a traditional spring dish made by the mother of the bride. Table centerpieces were created out of pewter goblets and greenery, bark, moss, and eclectic glassware. White blankets were spread across the lawn for guests to rest. – Tyler Speier Events
