Kassie and Matthew chose New Year's Eve to celebrate their nuptials with friends and family! The bride and her mother run a business together, and they did all of the signs, decor and styling for the wedding themselves! In keeping with the New Year's Eve theme, the glam color palette was black and gold with blush accents. The couple put an emphasis on moonshine beverages – including a moonshine bar – and the mother of the bride made the cake, which lit up! Sarah French Photography captured their sweet celebration.
A handmade New Year's Eve wedding in Sullivan, ME
Matthew and Kassie have been together since they were in MIDDLE SCHOOL… it was literally love at first sight! They have been inseparable ever since! They got engaged on New Year's Eve of 2015, and I photographed their engagement photos shortly after. It was then that they told me they were expecting to be parents! A little girl, due August 2016.
August came, and Kassie went into labor! She and Matthew were anxiously waiting for Leeona's arrival. During the labor, something was off, and then they received the news that NO parent should ever have to hear… I'm so sorry, but your baby didn't make it.
A few months later, Kassie contacted me and explained that she and Matthew decided to have their wedding on New Year's Eve of 2016! After the year they had, and considering they had gotten engaged on NYE of 2015, they wanted to end the old year and begin the new year with positivity, family, friends, and nothing but love!!
Their wedding day was absolutely perfect!! The ENTIRE wedding besides the photographer and DJ was DIY!! Kassie's mother is SO, so incredibly crafty and brilliant, she really should be a wedding planner. Every detail was perfectly thought out, and it was the most beautiful day. Kassie made all of the bridesmaids hangers, mirrors, and they did all of the decor themselves including the signs. In her daughter's remembrance, Kassie wore a bracelet engraved with her daughter's foot prints, a gift given by a close friend of the bride. You could really see the love that was pouring out of Kassie and Matthew on this day!
They want to show that no matter what life will throw at you, it is so incredibly important to stay strong and keep moving forward. Keep the positivity flowing into your life, regardless of what may be happening! Hang on to each other, love each other, and hold your loved ones tightly. – Sarah
