Lone Star State Wedding

Bobbi and Rich tied the knot in Dripping Springs in a celebration that is nothing short of an ode to Texas! Mekina Saylor Weddings captured their day, and Eclipse Event Co. helped every fun detail come to life. From Eclipse: “Bobbi is a Texas Native who wanted Rich (a Midwesterner) and out-of-state guests to get a true sense of the Lone Star State. To help with the laid-back feel of the wedding weekend, the guests were given a dress code of ‘Casual Jeans and Jorts’ for the Welcome Party. There were touches of unique home décor you would normally see in upscale Texas ranch homes. The ceremony was simple and elegant with a cow hide rug serving as a pop of décor, and the rolling hill country providing the main backdrop for the nuptials. It should be noted, though, that the focal point of the reception was the Disco Saddle, handmade by the bride!”

About The Wedding

“I didn’t have a grand vision or plan. My style is pretty chill and simple. The venue was essentially a clean white canvas, and I appreciated the modern simplicity, set in the Texas Hill Country. We live in Chicago and I lived in New York City for seven years before that, so most all of our guests were big city dwellers from out of state. I wanted to show them a bit of Texas flair without being obnoxious about it. I did NOT want mason jars and burlap.”

The Cake & Flowers

“My mom’s friend hand made a bunch of small cakes of different flavors – carrot, red velvet, lemon, etc. They were cozy and delicious. The cake we cut for pictures was an amazing, lifelike armadillo cake (a la Steel Magnolias). I love those pics of the severed armadillo head!

We just bought a bunch of bulk flowers that I thought looked pretty. My girlfriends put them together along with some wildflowers we picked into a bouquet. We didn’t have many other flowers. Again, simple and pretty.”

Special Details

“We splurged on the band, and I’m so glad we did. They were awesome! The beer donkeys and mariachi were a big hit, too – friends are still talking about them.

My dad hand made leather luggage tags that were used as the table/seating cards. I’ve even noticed some of my friends still using their little leather keychains around the house!

My dad actually hand made most all of the decor (he’s a general contractor/designer/carpenter/badass), and I made the disco saddle centerpiece. I was inspired by a similar saddle that hangs at a country bar & dance hall in Ft. Worth, Billy Bob’s.”
