Elegant Greek Wedding at the Opera Center

Maria and Matt’s winter wedding in Nashville was a magical celebration with romantic winter florals that mixed crimson and pink, as well as a Greek ceremony rich with traditions and a candlelit reception at the opera center. Maria’s gorgeous lace dress was accented by a lace bolero, a veil and one of her mother’s necklaces as an adornment in her hair! The bride even did all of the calligraphy for the day! From Erin Lee Allender Photography: “The ceremony was a traditional Greek ceremony with guests lighting candles as they walked in saying a prayer for the couple, and of course, the Jordan almonds were there. The ceremony consisted of The Betrothal Service, with the official Blessings of the Rings and The Marriage Service, with the Crowning of the Bride and Groom. The reception took place at The Noah Liff Opera Center. Guests were welcomed into the cocktail space where each of them had a feather escort ‘card’ that had been hand dipped in gold paint by the bride herself waiting for them. There was an open bar with special Greek alcohol. The dividing wall opened and the glowing reception space was revealed while the band played. The couple was announced and joined the group by having their first dance followed by a plated dinner. Once dinner was over, the reception was kicked off by Maria dancing with her father to the song ‘Maria’ from West Side Story, the song that was playing when she was born. Maria surprised her dad by the song switching mid dance to ‘Boogie Shoes.’ After the mother and son dance, Maria then surprised Matt by singing one of their favorite songs ‘The Story’ with their wedding band backing her up. When Maria hit the key change, the room exploded! The highlight of my evening was when the Greek dancing started. Maria and Matt broke the plates and the dancing began. The night concluded with a midnight snack of gourmet french fries and gourmet dipping sauces and baklava!”
