Rachael and Colby chose Memorial Day weekend for their wedding at The Highlands Country Club, the perfect venue for their romantic and rustic celebration. They really wanted the feel of the wedding to represent Colby's patriotic pride along with Rachael's love of English gardens, rustic accents and her favorite color, fuchsia. Their wedding featured many DIY projects, including the signage, programs, welcome bag and welcome letter; Rachael even worked with a jewelry designer to make the necklaces for her bridesmaids! Kerri Lynne Photography captured their lovely wedding day.
An Americana spring wedding in Garrison, NY
We awoke to one of the most beautiful days of this finicky New York season, and got to enjoy the morning with our amazing friends, reminding us why they are so dear to us in every way. Then we slowly watched our dreams come to life as we became a family. We posed for photos in the historical and highly patriotic Cold Spring, then continuing in our restored trolley to the venue where we took more pictures by the gorgeous barn that still remains on-site at The Highlands. We finally arrived at cocktail hour to our guests eating, drinking and playing cornhole, just raving at the beauty of the venue. The setting could not have been more perfect to enjoy our signature cocktails (Lynchburg Lemonade and Champagne and St. Germaine) and relish in the seasonal cuisine that made-up the hors d'oeuvres.
I then changed into a more whimsical and swing-like dress to perform the long-awaited choreographed dance. We entered the dance floor to “I'm Proud to be an American” which made all our friends and family laugh and then immediately proceeded into the dance. In the end we did a mix of two songs “The Luckiest” (Ben Folds) and “Dear Future Husband” (Meghan Trainor). The rest of a night sped on like a dream with wonderful food, dancing, laughter and lots of love. – Rachael
