A Love Story 10 Years in the Making

From Everyone Deserves Flowers: “After a ten year relationship and attending 30 weddings together prior to their own, Meggan and James decided to tie the knot! The Booking House in Manheim, which is a restored 1800s cigar factory, combined the rustic/chic feel the bride was hoping for with her groom’s more industrial style. The most important thing for the couple was to host an event not only a reflection of their love, but of their fun personalities and relationship. Meggan and her brother did a first reveal, which brought tears to everyone’s eyes. The grandmothers, cute as could be, hand in hand, walked down the aisle as the flower girls! Meggan chose to have her brother walk her halfway down the aisle with her mother then joining them to give her away. The ceremony was light and full of laughter. The officiant joked about how long it took to propose to his bride, which coincidentally tied into the bride announcing during her vows her 3,991 day anticipation to marry her groom. As the ceremony ended, the bride and groom recessed to Everything is Awesome from The Lego Movie, dancing and celebrating their love all the way down the aisle.” Their celebration included bouquets filled with sunflowers and bright florals inspired by wildflowers, which offset the palette of blues and gray tones in the bridal party’s attire. Amanda Naylor Photography captured every amazing detail!

In the Bride’s Words

My relationship with James is so strong and special because of the support we have from family and friends. We wanted our wedding to celebrate not just our marriage, but also all of the people who got us to where we are today. We wanted to honor those who mean the most to us and have them truly feel a part of this chapter in our lives. One of my favorite projects was the “Your Love is an Inspiration” wall. I printed a picture of every couple in attendance on either their wedding day, day of engagement, or just a beautiful picture together if they were dating. The pictures were clothes pinned to various strings of twine and displayed on a wall in the cocktail hour space. Our dog, Parker, was also highlighted on our wedding day! We created a cardboard cutout of him wearing a wedding color coordinating bowtie that was on display next to our sweetheart table! He’s our baby, so of course we had to have him “present” with us on such a big day!

In place of table numbers, our guests were seated at the names of various places that are significant to us as a couple. At each table, I provided the guests with a description of the place and why it holds a special meaning to us. Some guests were seated at tables that also held significance to them, as many of the locations are where we either met or spent time with those guests.

In place of traditional favors, we had a Sweets Table! The table was filled with cupcakes from our baker and a variety of treats made with love by my mom and some of my bridesmaids. Guests were able to fill bags with as many goodies as they wanted to take home with them. Our Sweets Table also include our cut cake which was topped with a rustic wooden cake topper of Superman (James’ favorite superhero), a Bride (me), and a dog (Parker)!

We tried to have a variety of entertainment available for our guests to enjoy the evening! Since not everyone likes to dance, we rented a photobooth and hosted a cigar lounge for guests to enjoy.

One of the most fun moments of the wedding had to have been the jello shots! My mom is known for her jello shot making abilities and overall love for them! She made 150 jello shots for us to toast with at the start of the wedding, not knowing that I secretly had it planned for her. A jello shot that read, “Wait for it”, on the lid was placed at each seat. Prior to dancing with my mom, I said a few words and had everyone in attendance toast to my mom with one of her famous jello shots!
