The inspiration for this stylized bridal shoot originated with calligraphy and a mermaid! With the waves crashing against Cape Kiwanda Beach, the bride’s delicate gown and windswept look is just perfect! The beautiful watercolor stationery suite with gold calligraphy, eco-friendly paper flowers, and incredible agate-inspired cake completed the theme. It’s not always typical for a calligrapher to dream up an elaborate shoot, and go to a photographer with their vision, but that’s exactly what happened here. Melissa of Off The Vine Calligraphy + Design sent me an email with the ideas she had for a gorgeous mermaid inspired shoot, and there’s no way I could turn that down, even if it was during my busiest month! We collaborated with each other for a few months, brainstorming ideas, finding vendors, finalizing details. One of Melissa’s best friends, Jessa of 14 Keys Design, has an incredible talent of creating gorgeous bouquets, flowers and greenery, ALL out of paper and other materials, such as styrofoam. All in all, I love how the elements came together at the gorgeous Cape Kiwanda beach here in Oregon.
