An elegant waterfront summer wedding in British Columbia
Erin and Kieran’s elegant summer wedding featured a stunning waterfront private residence in British Columbia, formal portraits on a regal sailboat, and simple potted herbs and lavender decorating the reception table. Guests were serenaded by guitar as they sipped cocktails and relaxed on the lawn overlooking the ocean. Kim Kalyn Photography captured their intimate and heartfelt vows, which included their son joining them front and center.
Kieran and I met the first weekend of Law School, and quickly became friends. We remained friends throughout Law School, helping each other study and going out for the occasional weekend brunch. However, it was not until Law School was finished, and we had both returned to BC – me to work and Kieran to spend some time with his family before heading to Europe – that we realized there was really something more there. After having been friends for so long, we came to the realization that it was serious very quickly, and it only took a few weeks for us to say “I love you”. After spending a year working a province apart, I relocated to Calgary, where we have been living and are now raising our son, Grayson. I know everyone says it, but I truly feel lucky to now be married to my best friend.
When planning our wedding, we didn’t necessarily agree on every detail, but we did agree on the feeling we wanted: a casual but elegant late summer afternoon get-together with the most important people in our lives. With the generous offer of Marcella Szel to use her house, and all our amazing friends and family traveling from near and far, we were able to accomplish just that. With the fantastic food and the weather turning out as we had hoped, it really was a perfect day. - Erin
