A rustic DIY wedding in Longmont, CO
Cameron and Neal’s May wedding was at the Lone Hawk Farm, just outside of Boulder. The venue was the perfect rustic backdrop for their DIY celebration, captured by Tega Photography!
It was important to us to be able to host an event with casual elegance – comfortable and relaxed for our guests, but also with really good food and enough “formal” things to really be a gift to our community, with details to show how important they are to us. I think the location and timing really helped us get there – Neal is from NM and I’m from NC, but both of our families love to come to Colorado for the outdoors, so we knew we wanted it to be outside, near Boulder (where we live). And we wanted somewhere that would be intimate and just the right size without feeling too big or impersonal.
We ended up hosting our wedding at Lone Hawk Farm in Longmont, CO, which we immediately fell in love with once we visited – it’s a real farm (with lots of real animals and vegetable gardens), with a beautiful mountain/valley view, farm-to-table dinners, and the ceremony site is right next to a beautiful plum orchard, which (of course) was in season when we first came. We toured the place with the owner, eating plums off trees and watching her grandchildren playing around the big leafy rows of lettuce, so the other venues didn’t stand a chance. The rest fell into place from there – probably the only other really important things to us were the food (having it be local, supporting our community) and the ceremony, short and simple but with particiaption from a variety of loved ones and friends. – Cameron
